Wow! It seems like Malena completely changed overnight. Today she is very interested in playing. We spent more time playing today than ever before. We had tummy time, sang songs and she turned and stared as I moved toys from side to side. She gave me a huge toothless smile and I almost started crying!
She has suddenly found her hands and is having a ball sucking on them as much as possible. Today she even stuck her thumb in her mouth for a short time.
The best part of today is that she "talked" to me. We had a back-and-forth conversation that was fascinating, albeit rather uninformative. It was amazing and we can't wait to show Daddy when he gets home from work tonight. We absolutely love our little girl.Comments:Add a comment:

It is so hard to believe, but Malena is now one month old! She started out as a very good baby, but this past week has been rough as she is finally "waking up" to the world around her. I guess it can all be a bit overwhelming at times. Yesterday we went back to see Dr. Pang because her belly button has been having trouble healing properly. She has a bit of a hernia there. The good news is that she is eating well and gaining weight (maybe a little too much!) and is as strong as a horse. Hopefully her colicky symptoms won't last too much longer. We would love seeing her smiling face a little more often!
I really don't know where the last month went! Most of it was spent sitting in the rocking chair feeding her and singing lullabies to her. They are permanently stuck in my head. Even though I'm exhausted, I can't fall asleep sometimes without hearing "Lavender's blue dilly dilly..." over and over in my head!!!
We still don't really have a schedule or routine. Although some nights she gets as long as 4 hours of sleep at a stretch. T.J. usually wakes up early in the morning so I can get at least an hour nap after her feeding. That really helps me make it through the day.
I am ready for this summer heat (and West Nile Virus streak) to go away so that we can take more strolls during the day. Malena seems fascinated by the breeze and the movement of the trees.
Malena is changing so much every day. She pushes up with her feet to try and stand up in my lap. She raises up her head quite often. She is like a little animal when she's eating -- very active and much more alert than she was 2 weeks ago. She loves staring at her black & white mobile and book.
I don't want her to get any bigger!Comments:Add a comment:
