Mimi is into torturing me these past few days. First, I have the worst sunburn I've ever had, and she is fascinated by the peeling skin. She thinks it is funny to scratch it off, and when I scream it makes her giggle even more. OUCH!!! Need to cut those nails of hers.
Her second brand of torture is to repeatedly throw her sippy cup onto the ground and say "uh oh!" Actually, it's more like "uh uh uh oh!" It is cute, but now my back aches from bending down to pick up that damn cup every 10 seconds.
Lastly, I've become a human elevator. She can't decide whether to be up high on my hip or down low crawling on the ground. She fusses and fusses and fusses at her indecision, and I'm forced to take her for a ride. Or is it the other way around?Comments:Add a comment:

No one believes me, but Malena said the word "diaper." Actually, it was more like "dah-puh dah-puh puh puh." Every time I change her diaper, I hand her the clean one to distract her and I say, "diaper." So, the other day I did this and she started repeating the word. Of course, when I grabbed the video camera, she was too distracted by the lens cover to repeat it all. She did it again later in the afternoon. But, she hasn't done it since.
She does say "da da" and "ma ma" on occasion. Also, when I say, "the doggie says ruff ruff" she goes "aah aah!" since she can't say "ruff ruff." Pretty amazing stuff.Comments:Add a comment:

Well, we had a scary event last Friday evening. Mimi was eating her dinner, and it was the second time she had ever eaten cheese. It was mozzarella in the shape of a dinosaur. She ate about 1/3 of the small piece and within 5 minutes her face was broken out with white dots with red all around them. Next, her left eye was totally bloodshot and her face started to swell. Thank God T.J. was home. He was in the garage, so I snatched her up and ran out to get him. We decided to put her in a cool shower with me after leaving a message for the pediatrician on call. The swelling went down pretty quickly, but T.J. was really worried after doing some research online. He called 911 while we were still in the shower. They came to the house (on a non-emergency basis) and by then she was a lot better. We were just so scared that she was heading towards anaphylactic shock where the throat closes up. The doctor finally called back and reassured us that if her symptoms were subsiding, she should not all of a sudden have trouble breathing. So, we didn't go to the hospital, and a little Benadryl helped her feel better and go to sleep.
It was very scary, but we were lucky. It was almost like the world stopped spinning for 20 minutes and nothing else was even remotely as important as my sweet child. Not that it ever is anyway.Comments:Add a comment:

Mimi did something so adorable this morning. I was holding a tin candle that smells like buttercream icing. She grabbed it and was trying to eat it, so I started exaggerating a sniffing sound with my nose to the candle, so she would know it's for smelling not eating. Then she grabbed it back and started sniffing it! It was so funny and sweet! I gave her lots of praise and she imitated me every time I did it...because of course we had to repeat the entire event for the video camera. ;-)
