Malena Therese Marchetti

Last night was interesting. It was my first time to be projectile puked on by my own child. Fortunately (or unfortunately), I was naked when this happened, so clean-up was easy. She didn't even need a shower. That is, not until the next puking go-round, which happened about 20 minutes later. This time clean-up was a PITA, but that is what husbands are for! For those of you who know me well, you will be surprised to know that I didn't even puke myself when any of this happened.

Sunday was a GREAT day! We took Malena to her very first MLB ballgame...the Yankees, of course. Versus the Angels. She actually seemed to have a lot of fun and was very well behaved, considering she isn't even a year old yet. I was not all that excited about taking her, but T.J. was looking forward to it, so I agreed. I was amazed to see how many people brought even the youngest babies. Crazy New Yorkers.

Malena has been wearing the eye patch for 45 minutes now with no problem. It isn't the strap on kind. It is sticky like a band-aid. As soon as we put it on her this morning, we sang her a song to distract her. Worked pretty well!

I forgot to mention yesterday that she is getting one of her front top teeth. FINALLY! It has been six months since her bottom ones came in. Now she'll be able to chew her food...which means the diaper will no longer resemble the highchair tray. Thank GOD.

I just got back from an appointment with a new eye doctor for Malena. What I suspected is true. Her left eye is turning lazy. He prescribed her to wear a patch on her good eye for 2 hours every day and to return in one month for a follow-up visit. Hopefully the patch will help strengthen her left eye. I don't know how in the hell I'm going to keep that patch on her eye. I know she'll rip it off every chance she gets.

In other news, Mimi had her first trip to Disneyland last Wednesday. It was awesome! I was (understandably) concerned about bringing an 11-month-old on an all-day Disney excursion, but she was amazing. Aside from a small meltdown during the Snow White show, she did great...as did her cousins Benjamin & Timothy. They all had such a fun time. I think she enjoyed the Small World ride most of all. She kept rocking to the music. I exercised great restraint and only bought her a small Tinkerbell toy, commemorative 50th Anniversary pin & a silver Minnie charm for a charm bracelet I'm planning to give her when she's older. I buy her a charm at most places she visits.

She is now pointing at things and saying "da." My sister Aimee thinks she is saying "that" or "what's that?" She could be right. So, whenever Mimi points at an object and says "da," then I tell her what it is. She even points at T.J. and says "da-eee."

We are getting excited about the Ferrells coming tomorrow! Malena had such a great time playing with Timmy & Benjamin in Louisiana. We're all going together to Disneyland next week. I hope she isn't a terror!

I started taking her back to My Gym. Now we go to the one in Pasadena. There are a lot more babies there. Mimi is kind of a brute, though. She is aggressive with the other babies, but usually only the ones who are able to stand and walk. She knocks them over. I guess she is trying to do what they are doing. She made 3 little ones cry, which was embarrassing, but they are all babies and don't really know what they're doing, I guess.

Her favorite thing to do lately is to take a pile of clothes, throw each item one by one into a new pile, then go to the new pile and start all over. Does she think she's "doing the laundry" like her Mommy? Probably not. She does the same thing with her books.

A glorious thing happened this morning. She pooped and then went ahead and napped with the poop in her diaper. She has not done this since the day she was born. She always insists on having a very clean diaper at all times, which can really mess up the day's schedule if she decides to poop in the middle of a nap. Maybe this is a fluke.

I think Mimi is going to walk soon! This morning she stood up by hanging on to my pajama pants, which she does ALL the time. Then she let go and stood on her own for a good 3 - 5 seconds! It took both of us by surprise!

Sadly, she is starting to reject her nighttime bottle. I guess 2 bottles a day are enough for her. She won't let me rock her and sing to her before bed now. :-( How did 11 months go by so damn fast?
