Malena is growing up so fast, it's hard to believe. She already has a training potty, which she requests to sit on several times a day. (We read her potty book as she sits there proudly.)
I decided to take her to the zoo Friday to meet one of her friends. The second I plopped her down into the stroller when we arrived, she puked all over herself. Three times. I had to call my friend Nic, who was waiting inside the gate for us, to come help me clean it up because it was making me sick. Thank God she didn't mind. She's the best.
Sunday was A LOT of fun! It was Malena's friend Scarlett's second birthday. We met them at Griffith Park, where they all rode the ponies and the train and ate cupcakes.
I was really surprised they'd let Malena ride all by herself strapped onto a pony for what seemed to be a pretty lengthy ride (two times around). We tried to take as many photos as we could because we are lame and forgot to bring the video camera (although I did shoot one short video using the camera -- see the Videos section). The photos are hysterical (see the January 2006 folder). It was definitely something I'll never forget.
This kid is saying lots of new words...mostly she is learning them by imitating everything I say. Here are some new ones:
go gurt (yogurt)
more
all done (no longer signing this)
up
down
ah sad (outside)
ah cheer (high chair -- also for any type of seat)
potty
nye nye (night night)
goggy (doggy)
monkey
shishy (fishy)
banky (blankie)
o mil (oatmeal)
orange
apple
maya (instead of mine -- learned this from Maya at daycare)
mimi sa (Mimi's)
bobo (cut or bruise)
puzza (puzzle)
sour (shower)
box (blocks)
bye bye Daddy (does that count as a sentence?)
poon (spoon)
nose (I need to blow my nose)Comments:Add a comment:

Malena has big news for everyone, but you have to go here to find out what it is:

New rule: Malena cannot have BBQ baked beans again until she is fully potty trained and can wipe her own boo-tay. Enough said.

It's already 2006?
Yesterday was exciting! T.J. and I are going to be the proud godparents of our brand new nephew...Nicholas Joseph Ferrell...born Jan. 5, 2006 in Baton Rouge. He surprised everyone, especially his mommy (Aimee -- my sister) and daddy (Ben) by popping out nearly 4 weeks early! However, he was born on a very special day...the 8-year anniversary of the day his godparents met. How neat is that! We can't wait to meet him.
Malena is doing well in the new year. This is a big year for her. She's got potty training, a new baby, a new bed, her 2-year birthday...all these big things to look forward to. How the heck am I going to manage all this?
Mimi is becoming quite the little ham. She had such an amazing time playing with her Grandma Beth then her Paw Paw Cookie & Aunt Amanda during the Christmas holiday. She always seems to blossom when there are visitors in town. She puts on her "cheese" face and gets lots of attention. I don't know if I've ever explained what that is on this site...
A few months ago, I noticed that when I would take her photo and say "cheese!" she would squint her eyes and make this funny face. Eventually, I realized that she was imitating me...I guess I kind of squint when I'm behind the camera. Well now she does it because she knows it makes everyone laugh. This girl is somethin' else.
She is really enjoying her new rocking horse from her Nana & Papa. She can mount and dismount the big ole thing all by herself! We took her to Santa Anita to see the real horses, and she loved that.
Malena is getting better at following commands. When I ask her to put the goldfish back into the bowl she just dumped on the carpet, she usually does it. I can tell her to put things away or bring me this or that, and she listens. I wonder how long that will last.
Today she has been obsessing over this one picture in one of her little chubby books. It is a book about opposites, and on one of the pages there are two clowns...one happy, one sad. She is very bothered by the sad clown. She keeps walking around saying "sad" and making a sad face. She can dig that book out of the insane pile of toys in her playroom in less than 30 seconds flat. I don't know why she is so upset over this silly clown. She is becoming a sensitive little girl I guess.Comments:Add a comment:
